Lucas Di Grassi and CabinAir Lead Race for Cleaner Air

Stockholm, January 28, 2022. Lucas Di Grassi, the champion FIA Formula E driver and United Nations Clean Air Ambassador, has signed a new partnership agreement with CabinAir, a Swedish manufacturer of advanced systems that purify interior air in cars, trucks and buses.

“Bad air damages your health, and drivers are exposed to some of the highest levels of air pollution,” Di Grassi comments. “Formula E supports the fight for cleaner air by showcasing zero-emission power for vehicles. That’s why I’m proud to announce a renewed partnership with CabinAir.”

In fact, on-road tests have shown that CabinAir’s unique two-step technology, which combines active particle charging technology and mechanical filtration, removes up to 10 times more pollutants than standard solutions. That’s crucial for protecting driver and passenger health because even with zero-emission vehicles, particles from brakes and tires as well as exhaust from other cars get inside the cabin. Materials inside cars also emit hazardous chemical vapors. It all adds up to air that is much more polluted inside the vehicle than outside of it.

Health, safety and well-being
“Lucas Di Grassi is the perfect ambassador to endorse CabinAir’s solutions,” says Daniel Hagström, CEO and Co-Founder of CabinAir. “All of his work towards a healthier world through vehicle air quality, including electric cars and his UN ambassadorship, corresponds with what CabinAir does: We help drivers and passengers breathe healthier air while in their cars.”

CabinAir technology is already factory installed in hundreds of thousands of vehicles world-wide.

In addition to air purification solutions, CabinAir has developed the Nordzone™ Air quality monitor and Nordzone app, which combine to display air quality data for PM2.5, CO2, and VOCs inside a vehicle at all times. In addition, the app displays the outdoor air quality. So not only can drivers and passengers enjoy excellent in-cabin air quality, they can also compare outdoor and indoor air quality and plan for healthy stops along the way.

The app also informs the user of temporarily increased pollutant levels inside the vehicle by using colors to indicate the air quality and provides recommendations for quickly returning to healthy in-cabin air.
