The harm air pollution
does to us

The invisible threat

The lack of visible smog is no indication that the air is healthy. While larger particles from dust and pollen is taken care of by our respiratory system, ultrafine particles slip past our body’s defenses, penetrating deep into our respiratory and circulatory system, damaging our lungs, heart and brain.

Air pollution plays a role in many of the major health challenges of our day, and has been linked to cancer, asthma, stroke and heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and changes linked to dementia.

Every stage of life

The health effects of air pollution are serious and affects us at just about every stage of life, starting in the womb, continuing through childhood, adolescence and young adulthood into old age.

During pregnancy

Some pollutants, when breathed by the mother, can cross through the placenta to the developing baby, which can affect growth of the unborn baby.

Children

Children breathing bad air might have reduced lung function and increased risk for developing asthma. Students in schools located closer to sources of pollution had lower test scores, and where more likely to be absent.

Adults

Air pollution accelerates the decline in lung function during ageing. Both short- and long-term exposure to air pollution can increase the risk of heart attacks, heart failure and stroke.

Protect yourself and your loved ones better

Where you are in traffic and how you travel can have a lot to say about how much air pollution you’re exposed to. The timing of your travel can also determine the amount the air pollution you encounter.

You will get some protection from the filters in your ventilation system. However, while traditional filter performance on larger particles (larger than PM₂.₅) is comparable with the performance of Nordzone™ System, they let a majority of the ultrafine and most harmful particles through.

Tips

Think bigger - clean air is not necessarily healthy air. If you use recirculation mode to repeatedly force in-cabin air through your car air filter, the CO₂ levels will increase. This can make you feel drowsy, and stalled air also means an increased risk of spreading viruses and bacteria.

Invest in the latest air purification technology for your car. Nordzone™ System removes up to 10x more of the ultrafine particles than a standard car air filter does. A constant flow of clean and fresh air will also flush out in-cabin generated CO₂ VOCs, viruses and bacteria and odors.

Use an air quality monitor to track your daily exposure. Nordzone™ Air quality monitor is optimized for vehicles so you can track real-time data for PM, CO₂ and VOCs.

Use AI to navigate to healthier air. Our Nordzone™ app compares in-cabin air quality data with outdoors and gives tips how to quicker get back to healthy air in case of temporary increased levels of PM, CO₂ or VOCs inside the cabin.
