CabinAir enters Middle East Market for healthy in-cabin air
Stockholm, 12 April 2021. CabinAir, which makes advanced air purification systems for vehicles, has signed a distribution deal with Dubai-based luxury coach builder Scuderia Motor Design.
CabinAir’s technology is currently available as an integral part of Volvo Cars’ Advanced Air Cleaner (AAC) system and has recently launched for cars already on the road as Nordzone™ System in China, and is now rolled out in the Middle East region.
For Scuderia, it was a logical extension of their luxury offer. “We don’t compromise on the comfort of our clients,” says Nazeem, MD of Scuderia Motor Design. “And we know that healthy air allows them to arrive in better shape, with less fatigue and more energy.”
“We are excited with this partnership as our VIP customers want the best proven solution to breathe clean and fresh air inside their cars. We have evaluated many systems and concluded Nordzone™ System to be the best solution for GCC’s weather environment. Moreover, Nordzone System provides Bluetooth connectivity to an air quality monitor, so the car owners can supervise the air quality from the comfort of their mobile. Unlike other solutions, CabinAir’s Nordzone System cleans the air before the air comes out of the air condition vents. There is no chemicals or harmful UV lights expose to human. Customers we have already talked to are eager to install the solution, to better protect their families and children from in-cabin air pollution,” Nazeem continues.
CabinAir’s solution comes at a crucial time for the automotive industry. “The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated consumer demands for healthy in-cabin air — drivers and passengers expect a clean and safe cabin,” says CabinAir CEO Daniel Hagström. “So we strongly believe that our solution is a competitive advantage, whether you are talking about new cars, taxis, or Scuderia’s luxurious vehicles.”
Developed in Sweden
CabinAir’s technology was developed in highly forested Sweden, where healthy air is a birthright. It is based on HEPASilent™ technology, and proven in homes, offices and public spaces all over the world in Blueair products, a world-wide leader in air purification, also founded in Sweden. The two-step technology combines active particle charging technology and mechanical filtration. Charged particles stick like magnets to the filter, which then traps even the smallest and most harmful airborne pollutants such as viruses, bacteria, exhaust smoke and ultra-fine particles before they can get to you.
The Nordzone™ System, which Scuderia is installing as an aftermarket upgrade, makes the technology up to ten times more effective than conventional solutions, and, unlike conventional solutions, it does not depend on using recirculation mode to deliver results. This means that there is a constant flow of fresh, oxygenated air through the cabin that prevents spread of virus and bacteria, fogging and CO2 build up. It also flushes out volatile organic compounds from car interiors.
The Nordzone™ Air quality monitor shows real time in-car air quality data for PM2.5, CO2 and VOCs so you always know what you’re breathing. High CO2 levels, for example, indicate bad ventilation, which can cause drowsiness and increase the risk of spreading airborne viruses breathed out by the driver or passengers.
The monitor’s at-a-glance interface is easy to understand, so you can focus on the driving. Discrete LED indications will alert you in case of temporarily increased pollutant levels inside the vehicle (this can happen in very dense traffic situations or overuse of recirculation mode).
With the Nordzone™ app installed, you can compare in-cabin air with outdoor air quality index, get filter replacement reminders and learn more about in-cabin air pollution.
High levels of pollution in vehicles
“With people spending more and more time in their cars, they can be exposed to some of the highest levels of air pollution for long periods,” Hagström says. “This obviously affects health as well as comfort. And it’s even worse for children, whose lungs and brain are still developing.”
Indeed, studies show that without effective air filtration, the air inside a car is much more polluted than it is outside. That’s because pollutants quickly build up in the car due to the flow of exhaust from the vehicles ahead as well as from fine particles from brake wear, tire wear, road surface wear and more. Making matters worse, a car’s interior is itself a source of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released by materials such as rubber, plastic, foam and leather.
Through this exciting partnership, drivers and passengers in the Middle East will soon be able to breathe clean and fresh air inside their vehicles – healthy air for the ride!
CabinAir aims to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of drivers and passengers, by producing industry leading in-cabin air purification solutions for cars, trucks, busses and other vehicles.
