CabinAir makes headlines in China

The Chinese publication Global Times has just published an article on CabinAir’s Advanced Air Cleaning (AAC) solution for Volvo Cars. The full article can be read here (in Chinese).

Here is a translated summary:
Blueair has been partnering with Volvo since 2014, when the companies announced their cooperation at the Beijing International Auto Show in China. Daniel Hagström, CEO of Blueair CabinAir, explains several factors that cause environmental pollution in the car: compounds from tires and paved roads, exhaust gases from the cars in front of you, exhaust gases from the vehicles themselves, the pollution of the outer upper air itself and pollution from materials inside the vehicle.

“So, when we develop a system for cars, it was important to take all these factors into consideration.”

It is understood that CabinAir’s Advanced Air Cleaner (AAC) solution will be installed in Volvo Cars’ 2020 models. The two-stage technology combines the effect of an optimized mechanical filter with active particle charging technology to absorb also ultra-fine particles such as PM2.5 or PM1.

Daniel says that with this solution, outside air continuously flows through the car, since the system does not depend on using the recirculation mode to clean the air. “With fresh air flowing in, you prevent moisture fogging up the windshield and windows. It can also reduce the risk of increased CO2 levels inside the cabin.”
